Overview

Description 

Acculturative stress will be introduced and explained within the context of mental health within the Latin/x community. Having meaningful measures of acculturation and incorporation of them within clinical assessments is explored and reviewed to assist with treatment planning. 

Learning Objectives 

  • Critically review and analyze acculturative stress and its impact on mental health with the Latin/x community.  
  • Assess acculturative stress symptoms and apply them to culturally sensitive diagnosis.

How to Earn Credit 

Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, CE credit for psychologists, CE credit for social workers, or a certificate of participation may do so by viewing the live presentation and completing the evaluation. Participants claiming CE credit for psychologists and those claiming CE credit for Social workers, must have full attendance to claim credit. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians), CE certificate (psychologists), CE certificate (social workers) or certificate of participation (other disciplines) showing the event date and hours earned.

Edgar A. Ramos, PsyD is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 17 years of varied clinical experience. Dr. Ramos has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. He has worked in various residential settings, behavioral health hospitals, nursing homes, and community mental health centers throughout Chicago. Dr. Ramos is the Assistant Dean at Concordia University Chicago in the Health, Science and Technology department. His primary focus is teaching in the Psychology department. Dr. Ramos supervises and trains Master and Doctoral level students at several sites. He is fluent in Spanish and provides clinical care in both Spanish and English.
