Overview

Description 

This case conference examines the comprehensive psychiatric treatment of a patient admitted to the California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) deemed Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST). Presenters will walk through the clinical decision-making process from initial presentation through medication management, behavioral stabilization, and discharge planning using a real case to another didactic content and facilitate discussion.

Describe the continuum of care for IST patients across California's behavioral health system. 

Identify how California's CARE Act and related behavioral health initiatives can be utilized as discharge planning tools.

How to Earn Credit 

After completing the evaluation, participants will have the opportunity to claim their hours of participation and download the appropriate certificate. Physicians may obtain an official CME certificate, other healthcare professionals may receive a CE certificate (as applicable), and all other attendees may generate a certificate of participation. Each certificate will reflect the event date and total hours earned.
